#SEVERAL Bahamian minor league players recently made their debuts in their respective rookie leagues and have made immediate impacts for their franchises.
#The Arizona League is the starting point for many of these players including teammates on the AZL Angels and AZL Diamondbacks.
#Trent Deveaux begins his career listed as the No. 21 prospect and D’Shawn Knowles is the No.30 prospect in the Los Angeles Angles organisation.
#In their latest outing, a 9-5 loss to the AZL Mariners, Deveaux had his best offensive outing of the young season, 3-4 at the plate including a pair of doubles. It was his third multi hit game of the season.
#In his season debut he went 2-5 with one RBI and one stolen base. He also went 2-5 with one RBI against the Indians second team.
#Through 12 games he is hitting .224 with four runs, four RBI with two stolen bases.
#Both Bahamian players hit at the top of the lineup against the Indians, with Knowles as the leadoff and Deveaux hitting second. Knowles went 3-5 including a triple with two RBI.
#Through 11 games, Knowles is hitting .325 with a .417 OBP, .917 OPS with four RBI, nine runs scored, three stolen bases and one home run.
#Knowles began the season with a four game hitting streak and has posted four multi hit games this season.
#He went 2-3, scored three runs against the Cubs, 2-4 against the Diamondbacks, 2-4 with one RBI in the second meeting against the Diamondbacks and hit his lone home run of the season against the Indians.
#Kristian Robinson, ranked No.12 and Dominique Collie are teammates with the AZL Diamondbacks.
#Robinson went 1-5 with one run and one stolen base in Wednesday’s matchup against the Cubs. Through 13 games, he his hitting .278 with a .667 OPS, .333 OBP, six RBI, four stolen bases and scored 14 runs. Some of his highlights this season thus far include 3-4 with three runs and one stolen base against the Athletics, 2-5 with one RBI and one run scored against the Giants.
#Collie is still looking for his first hit of the season after his first five games since his progression to the AZL. Last season, he spent 37 games in the Dominican Republic and hit .245 with a .717 OPS, .394 OBP, six RBI and score 18 runs with two stolen bases.
#Deveaux was ranked at No.19 by Baseball America heading into the International Signing Period.
#Last July he signed a $1.2 million dollar deal with the Angels, entering the organisation as one of it’s most coveted signings of the period.
#Knowles was ranked No.37 in Baseball America’s rankings among international prospects.
#Robinson signed the most lucrative deal of any Bahamian player this period as he reached an agreement near $2.5 million.
#Baseball America had Robinson ranked at No.9 among international prospects, while MLB Pipeline had him listed at No.15, the highest ranked of the group of Bahamians.
