 The Giorgio Baldacci Open National Championships is set for December 19-22 at the Bahamas Lawn Tennis Association’s (BLTA) National Tennis Centre. The top tennis players in the country are expected to take part.

The Bahamas’ only national championship in the month of December, the tennis nationals, is about a week away.

The Giorgio Baldacci Open National Championships is set for December 19-22 at the Bahamas Lawn Tennis Association’s (BLTA) National Tennis Centre.

The entry deadline for the tournament is Monday, December 12 at 6 p.m. and the open draw will be done via Zoom on Friday, December 16 at 6 p.m.

The tournament will be held in a single elimination format, played to a best-of-three tiebreak sets.

The BLTA is sending out notice that all participants must conduct themselves in a dignified and responsible manner and show sportsmanship while on court or within the tournament site. All players are subject to the BLTA code of conduct.

A 15-minute default rule will be enforced for all matches. The finalists in both the men’s and women’s draws will qualify to compete in the 2023 Davis Cup and Billie Jean King Cup competitions.

Seeding will be based on Association of Tennis Professionals (ATP)/Women’s Tennis Association (WTA) rankings, International Tennis Federation (ITF) world rankings, 2022 Davis Cup/Billie Jean King Cup positioning, national (Open) rankings, and any other relevant information.

Players must complete the tournament to be eligible to receive ranking points and be eligible to play on the 2023 Davis Cup/Billie Jean King Cup teams. Players are responsible for checking the website https://blta.net for daily orders of play and match times.

Decisions are final as per the tournament referee.

Players are subject to the age restrictions indicated on the entry form, and only persons able to represent The Bahamas at international events are eligible to enter the tournament.

Entry forms should be emailed with the player’s name included in the subject line of the email, and proof of payment of entry fees should be emailed to tournament@blta.net before the entry deadline on Monday.

All tournament information and updates, including draws and daily orders of play, will be posted on the BLTA’s website http://blta.net/giorgio-baldacci-open-nationals/. Draws and daily orders of play will not be sent by email, and players are responsible for checking their draws and match times online.

Players and parents must agree that they will not hold the BLTA and/or the BLTA’s National Tennis Centre responsible for any injury and/or accident that may occur as a result of taking part in this tournament.

The entry fee for the tournament is $20.
